XL Childcare

XL Childcare is committed to providing high quality care that is developmentally appropriate for young children. Our program offers a warm and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of young children while responding to the needs of their families.

XL Childcare was founded in 1997 at Walkden Methodist Church to provide primarily after-school and holiday care. This service was called Schools Out. In September 1997 with the full support of what was then the Salford Registration and Inspection Unit (now Ofsted) we opened a playgroup called Little Munchkins. Parents could chose morning or afternoon sessions.

However we were soon inundated with requests from parents and carers wanting longer childcare sessions. Therefore, in January 1999, Ofsted, registered us as a full day care facility. From August 2006 both Schools Out and Little Munchkins were known collectively as XL Childcare.
