About the Business

In the Autumn of 1975 I started taking my son Daniel to Newdigate Playgroup as there was nothing available in Leigh village. We started in the Autumn of 1976 with ten children four days a week, charging 5 shillings a session (equivalent to 25p today!). We had one leader and a mum had to help everyday as well. It grew steadily over the years getting up to 20 children with two paid helpers and a mum. All of our staff are qualified or studying as Early Years practitioners. They all hold current First Aid certificates and regularly attend training courses to update knowledge in all areas of childcare.

Most of the staff have been at Lollipops for many years and age range from yummy mummies to glamorous grannies! Each child is allocated a member of staff as their key worker. We have a high staff to child ratio and, even though all staff interact daily with every child, a key worker will lead the development of their profile documentation and be available as first point of contact for parents.
