The project was set-up by local parents, the playgroup leader and staff who formed a committee to push the project forward. The idea was to build upon the long established local playgroup by adding anafter school club, which would continue to look after the children when they went to school.
Kings Road Nursery School opened in 1977 and serves the immediate areas of Tullycarnet, Dundonald and Gilnahirk. It is well equipped inside and out. The school has two main play rooms and operates anopen planned approach where the children are free to move purposefully between the two rooms accessing a wide range of learning opportunities. There is a large Sun Room which is floored with safety surface. This facilitates physical play on a daily basis, irrespective of the weather outside.
Kids Korner Day Nurseries are registered with Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and are members of Early Years, the organisation for young children. We have a strong emphasis on treating allchildren as individuals and caring for them in a warm, homely and loving environment. Oakey Dokey Day Care Nursery is situated at 50 Belfast Road, Holywood, Co. Down. The Nursery was established in August 2007 and is a family run business managed by Siobhan and Jacqui. Siobhan is aqualified accountant and is responsible for the management and administration of the nursery. Over the Rainbow was the first Private Day Nursery to open in Belfast.
